Ever find yourself wishing you had a webcam with you while on the go?  Let’s say you’re at grandma’s birthday party and want to share a video of her blowing out the candles.  What to do?  If you have Qik on your phone, you simply open up the app and start sharing!

For those unfamiliar with Qik, it’s a service that allows users to record and stream videos from desktops as well as handsets.  Notable features include location-sharing, various privacy modes, and integration with services like Twitter and YouTube!

“Qik” is exactly that!  I found it easy to learn and simple to use. You can set it to automatically upload to Facebook, which means you don’t have to go to your gallery to locate it and upload it.  Qik does it for you!   All of your videos are archived and available online at www.qik.com.  Users can track activity, how many views you’ve had and even watch videos from other users located around the world.

Upon setup, In the settings online you can set Qik up to send you notifications via SMS or email when:

  • A new video is created by people I follow
  • Someone shares a video with me
  • Someone starts following me
  • A comment is posted on my video
  • A friend views a video I shared

I could have a lot of fun with this app – so many possibilities!  Here’s a sample video I created using Qik.

You can leave a response, or trackback from your own site.
