I recently heard about this app called Line2, where you can place calls or send text messages through WiFi/3G/4G. I thought it would be cool to check out, especially being a T-Mobile user. I downloaded it, and was excited to make my first call. I dialed out, and WOW I was impressed! It worked perfectly, no static, no distortion of the voices. So I decided to try and send a text, that too worked quickly and perfectly. This application is all done through VOIP. So you can talk as much as you want! It doesn’t go towards your monthly plan, and in this day and age that’s just awesome. Line2 is so great it even received a Editor’s Choice award from PCMag.com.
Line2 is very easy to set up! You pretty much just enter your location and your name, and then you’re assigned a phone number. You can use it just through WiFi or if your lucky and have 3G/4G, then you can use it on there. After that, you’re ready to make calls or send text messages. The UI on Line 2 is really nice. At the top you have 5 categories:Keypad,Contacts,Calls,Text and Settings. The Keypad is just like your stock keypad with the exception of a extra button, VOIP is on the bottom left. This shows you what you’re using to make the call. On your Contacts, it shows you two lists. One is Favorites, and the other is Android. Favorites is your most called contacts, where as Android is just all your contacts. Calls, naturally that is your list of phone calls and voicemails that have been received. Texts is, well that’s just pretty self explanatory. Don’t forget to go into the settings, there is where you can set up your call forwarding, as well as your dialing options.
Now for 30 days this app is free, that way you can check it out and see if you like it. After the 30 day trial over you can purchase the app for $9.95 a month. Which in all reality isn’t bad, especially when you can lower your regular monthly minutes by using this app. All in all, this app is great for people who don’t have the best coverage, or who just want to save on their monthly minutes. Let us know if you use this app and how you are liking it!
