HTC Thunderbolt + Verizon 4G LTE = <3

Let me start off with saying “Ooohhh Lala!”  As a recent MT4G owner I was hesitant to make the switch to another phone because I had no complaints with the device I currently had.  However with the whole AT&T/T-Mobile buyout I decided to explore other options.

My boyfriend and I were out window shopping at a local BestBuy and we found the Verizon HTC Thunderbolt in all it’s glory on display.  At first I was skeptical because of the large size, heavier weight and somewhat masculine features, for some reason it caught my eye.  Needless  to say it was very different than my plum purple MT4G but the more I held it and looked it over- the more I liked it.

I made the decision to go to Verizon because of the service coverage in my area compared to Sprint (the HTC Evo was another option).  I sadly laid my MT4G to rest and purchased my Thunderbolt last night.  I have never been so happy!  Aside from killing my battery twice in 24 hours, I can’t seem to put the phone down.  In this case “bigger is better”- in the screen size I mean :)

Usually I am a physical keyboard type of gal- but I find no faults using the Thunderbolts large display.  I am also very impressed with the speeds of the 4G LTE service, OMG, that’s all I have to say.  I was completely blown away to find that my cell phone was destroying my home network connection.  Quite impressive!

Even though this phone is not yet rooted (oh CM7 how I miss you) it seems to run very smooth and effortlessly with all of the apps I currently installed.  The super LCD display shows off my girly wallpapers beautifully and the sound quality is great.  The kickstand on the back is so useful (EVO owners can relate- I’m sure) and is perfect for my desk at work, giving me full visual access without having to lean over or pick up my phone every 5 minutes.

Well okay gals, time for me to go play some more.  I hope anyone else with a Thunderbolt is having a positive experience like me.  Feel free to share your comments or stories below- I would love to hear them!

My name is Stephanie Klicpera and I am a 28 year old Gal from NY. I have an undying passion for Google and Android because of all the awesome things they have to offer. I currently own a rooted HTC Thunderbolt and do my best to make it as girly as possible. If you have a rooted Thunderbolt like me, you can also girly up your phone by using one of the themes named after me. Just look out for any theme with "Cutee" in the theme name.I started writing for AndroidGals in March of 2011 and I am loving it! I decided to get involved because I think it's important for more of us gals to learn how to utilize our Android devices and get the most out of them. I am involved in a new "girly project" over at www.teambamf.net to further educate what Android can do for us gals. To stay posted follow me on Twitter @Androidcutee

I too was reluctant to move over to the TBolt. I was a very happy Incredible owner. Unfortunately it experienced one parking lot drop to many so I had to find a replacement.

The screen is gorgeous! I have some of my photography hobby pics loaded and they look wonderful on that screen.

I also agree on the sound quality. I never listen to music on my phone but let a friend play with my new toy. I stopped what I was doing to make sure that song was actually coming out of my phone. Very clear even at max volume. The 32G memory card also means lots of music and picture storage.

Personally, I prefer the larger size, its a more comfortable grip. It feels better in my hand and seems to be less prone to my butter-finger drops. I did have concerns about it fitting in my pocket and how the ease of “grab and go” would be affected as compared to the Incredible, but I’ve had no problem. I actually found the larger size makes it easier to hold with my wallet, keys, etc. The smaller sizes always slipped through my hand when I was holding all that other stuff.

My hugest disappointment, which almost made me take the phone back was that the NFL mobile app is not supported on this device. 4G network with a near HD screen and no NFL?? Shocking!! The mobile version of Skype is not supported either. I’m hoping these apps catch up to this device. I also prefer the sounds of Thunder upon start up. That annoying scream of “Droiiiiidddd” that the Incredible made was just obnoxious.

One day I hope someone figures out how to transfer all the apps from one phone to another as that is still a hassle. There are a few apps that will make a list and move apps to the SD card, but I found that to only be partially useful, not all apps moved.

Overall, I am very happy with the Thunderbolt, it has been a fun tory to play with and highly recommend it.

Im so glad you liked the Thunderbolt while you had..sorry to hear it fell to a tragic death…lol I myself had the Incredible and found it way to small. I also had the Fascinate but found it kinda cheap feeling and had tons of freezing and rebooting issues. As far as transferring apps, my Google account stored alot of my downloaded apps and once I signed in it reinstalled alot of them..although I did find some missing so I do see your point. Thanks for sharing your experience, we love to hear them!
