This application is new to me, but not to the Android Market. Wikitude World Browser was just upgraded to 6.0, and allows the user to discover what’s around them in a completely new way. This app will utilize your camera so all you have to do is simply hold your Android device up and start exploring everything that is around you. Wikitude takes control of your camera’s display and “the objects you look at with additional interactive content and information” For example, if i click on Twitter from the main menu, my camera launches. The app utilizes my GPS and starts populating near by tweets on my screen. It even allows me to click on them individually, which will take me to the actual tweet. Pretty nifty! This is only one of MANY features Wikitude World Browser 6.0 can do.
Features:
*Find events, tweets, Wikipedia articles, ATMs, restaurants, user reviews and much more around you
*Experience places near you in augmented reality or show them on a map and list view
*Browse more than 100 million places and interactive content
*Explore and identify places and objects near by
*Search for specific places, for example “thai restaurant”
*Find mobile coupons and discounts for stores and shops near you
I was able to track down a video that really sums up how powerful this application can be. Feel free to watch it to see exactly why Wikitude World Browser has been voted “Best Augmented Reality browser in 2010”! Please let us know in our comments how you would put this app to use in your every day life!
