Being that it is officially Earth Day 2011 I thought it would be worth sharing the green news that recently came out of Sprint’s news room. Starting in early May, customers can get their hands on the Samsung Replenish, an environmentally conscious Android handset. Running Android 2.2 Froyo and loaded with applications approved by Mother Nature, the Replenish is made from Earth-friendly materials and offers an optional solar powered battery charger. The packaging consists of fully recyclable materials and comes with a pre-paid envelope for sending back your old device.
In terms of specs, the Replenish is not your high end Android phone for gaming. The hardware includes a 2.8-inch touch screen, a 2-megapixel camera, and 2GB microSD card. However, this should be forgiven considering the low price point of the phone. Customers signing a two year service agreement can walk away with one for $49.99. And as if this weren’t enough to convince you, Sprint is also shaving $10 off their data plan, meaning you can have it paid for by the time Santa comes down your chimney.
Look for the Samsung Replenish in May in a variety of color options, including Onyx Black and Arctic Blue. Should you opt for a more Gal-like colors, you’ll be happy to know that Raspberry Pink is due in June.
