Tuesday morning Google announced their newest Android operating system, Ice Cream Sandwich. This latest version will focus on having the ability to run on ANY Android device. I think this was the second most exciting announcement for me, after of course the Music Beta by Google. In a quote from the Google Blog-

This morning we talked about our next version of Android, Ice Cream Sandwich. Our goal with Ice Cream Sandwich is to deliver one operating system that works everywhere, regardless of device. Ice Cream Sandwich will bring everything you love about Honeycomb on your tablet to your phone, including the holographic user interface, more multitasking, the new launcher and richer widgets.

I think the idea of bringing the phone and tablet versions of Android together is amazing! I think it will be especially great for app developers. Having some consistency in the operating systems will help apps run smoother. I also hope it encourages a boom in app development for tablets, especially with so many great ones hitting the market. What are you most excited to see from Ice Cream Sandwich?

My only complaint, since I heard about this…I’ve had an unwavering craving for ice cream sandwiches.
