Tuesday brought us a ton of announcements from Google I/O. One being that your Android Device is getting a little closer to totally controlling all of your entertainment! We say this because Google has added the ability to rent movies right from the Android market. Coming to you straight from the Google Blog-
You can choose to rent from thousands of movies starting at $1.99 and have them available across your Android devices—rent a movie on your home computer, and it’ll be available for viewing on your tablet or phone.
You can rent from the Android Market on the web today, and we’ll be rolling out an update to Verizon XOOM customers beginning today. We’ll start rolling out the update to Android 2.2 and above devices in the coming weeks.
This is a great addition I think, especially since I know I’ve felt neglected by Netflix as an Android user. For someone like my husband who spends a fair amount of time on the road for work, this is nice. He can rent a movie in the comfort of his hotel room and enjoy it right on his phone, tablet, or laptop.
Do you like the addition of movie rentals, or do you view it as a waste of time? More titles should be added to the Android Movie Market as more time passes.
