As some of you might remember, I wrote a while back about the various apps that allow you to turn your phone into an eReader. One of the apps featured was the Nook app, well now the Nook app is inching ahead adding a great new update. You can now read magazines and newspapers, this is very exciting! As a family we’re working on being less wasteful, but we love magazines! And since I’m finally ready to make the leap to a tablet (they’re just too awesome) I love that I’ll be able to enjoy some of my favorite magazines in digital form! Not only is it more cost effective, it’s also environmentally friendly.
The good news is, that you can now enjoy Nook magazines on the Nook Color even after you’ve rooted it. That’s a huge plus for me, as someone looking on a tablet. I love the idea of being purchase the nook for only $250 and then root it. Now with this addition I get the best of both, a solid open Android tablet and the Barnes and Noble Nook Color eReader! The only bummer is that the magazine and newspapers are only available on high resolution tablets according to the description on the Android Market Nook App page. The Nook app also now lets you side-load your ePub books, and lets you lend books through an in-app lending feature.
You can pick up the Nook App from the Android Market free of charge in the Android Market.
Have you already checked out the update, are you liking the new additions?
