Google TV Will Get Market Access and Android 3.1

GoogleTV-011

Google is at it again! They announced all sorts of fun for GOOGLE TV, now it really allows us as consumers to unearth our inner child!  Google announced at I/O 2011 last week that they are building a new platform to be compatible with Android 3.1 to be run off of our TV’s!  YES you heard me right, from our TV’s!!!  This means great stuff for our developers giving them a whole new and much BIGGER canvas to work on! They even promised that the Android Market should open up as well. This is all due out later this summer. Here’s a little bit more of what Google has announced:

In “Building Web Apps for Google TV”, we explored some of the opportunities offered by the TV space, and dove into the technical and practical factors of designing web apps for television. In the “Building Android Apps for Google TV” session, we explained how to optimize Android applications to run on Google TV. We provided an overview of the platform, and illustrated how Android developers can make sure their apps look and perform optimally on the big screen. You can view the detailed guidelines here.

Knowing how the web radically transformed those devices, we wondered what it could do for the most ubiquitous screen in the world.  Which is why we have been busy geeking out on how to make TV as awesome as possible.

The result is Google TV.  It’s an adventure where TV meets web, apps, search, and the worlds creativity.  Like Android, it will be an open software platform.  From the start it will be able to work with any TV.  And before long anyone will be able to build applications for it.

The coolest thing about Google TV is that we don’t even know what the coolest thing about it will be.”

This feature will only work with an add-on box device such as the Logitech Revue or the Sony Internet TV Blu-Ray to your existing TV which will be available at online dealers and local retail stores.

Sony Internet TV Blu-Ray:

Google TV allows us to run our favorite apps, search the web, create our own home screens and even use our Android phones as a remote control!  It certainly doesn’t get more AWESOME as this!   To find out more about this amazing project check out GOOGLE’s website:  Google TV

My name is Stephanie Klicpera and I am a 28 year old Gal from NY. I have an undying passion for Google and Android because of all the awesome things they have to offer. I currently own a rooted HTC Thunderbolt and do my best to make it as girly as possible. If you have a rooted Thunderbolt like me, you can also girly up your phone by using one of the themes named after me. Just look out for any theme with "Cutee" in the theme name.I started writing for AndroidGals in March of 2011 and I am loving it! I decided to get involved because I think it's important for more of us gals to learn how to utilize our Android devices and get the most out of them. I am involved in a new "girly project" over at www.teambamf.net to further educate what Android can do for us gals. To stay posted follow me on Twitter @Androidcutee
