Over the past couple of weeks I have had the opportunity to test out the Jabra Freeway Surround Sound Bluetooth portable unit. I was able to bring the unit all around with me and use it through out the day as I went about my daily life. From the commute to and from work to listening to music effortlessly in my office. I am truly going to miss the Freeway when I send it back.
The sound that comes out of this unit is simply amazing. The speakers are crisp and clear and sounds excellent while chatting on the phone hands free or streaming music. I found no distortion and didn’t get any complaints of background noise getting picked up and fed through the other line.
- Rich and crisp sound with 3 speakers and Virtual Surround sound
- Use your voice to make and take calls completely hands-free
- Announces the name of the incoming caller
- Voice Guidance gives spoken battery level, paring instructions and connection status
- Multiuse – Connects to 2 Bluetooth® devices at the same time
- A2DP streaming for playback of music, podcasts and directions from GPS applications
- Up to 14 hours talk time and up to 40 days standby time
The convenient clip on style mount is a great way to keep the unit above your head and out of view while staying hands free. Also a great way to stay focused on the road ahead of you. The only set back I found is when you go to put the sun visor down it faces the speaker towards the windshield. This blocks some of the sound and it becomes hard to hear over the car and road noise- time to invest in some good sunglasses! But as long as you keep the visor up- I found no hearing issues at all.
The battery life is quite impressive lasting about 14 hours on one charge- just as the specs above states. It recharges easily with the provided micro USB cable and doesn’t take long at all to gain charge.
The user interface is very simple as well. The unit is prompted by voice command and pairs very easily to your bluetooth device. I had no issues with the unit not understanding my voice commands and it always connected to my phone very quickly. There are easy navigation buttons on the device around the main speaker: volume up and down, call button, voice command and of course the power button on the side beside the USB port.
I would highly recommend this unit to anyone looking for a good alternative to an ear piece bluetooth device. It is very impressive and I would personally go out and spend the $129.99 it is listed for. I actually prefer it over my car stereo bluetooth, thats how much I liked it. I hope this review was helpful, and if anyone has one please feel free to comment below. I want to know what you think as well.
