Don’t Have i-Envy, You Can Get the Starbucks App Too!

In my house, all the advertisements for iPhone apps on television are simply invitations to see if my Droid can do what the iPhone can do. Today, an iPhone commercial showed someone holding up their iPhone to the bar code scanner at Starbucks in order to use their Starbucks card to pay for their morning caffeine fix. A quick peek into the Market showed that my Andy could do that too!

We’ve shown you before on AndroidGals how to use your Andy for discounts in stores and to organize your grocery list for extreme couponing. The Starbucks app is another great way to keep track of what you are spending by letting you use a registered Starbucks card from your phone rather than having to pull out your card.

Pay by holding your phone up to the bar code scanner at StarbucksWhen I opened the Starbucks app for the first time, it displayed a message on my Droid X saying that it was initializing.  After about 10 seconds that went away and the app started. After the app starts, you’ll be prompted to log in with your Starbucks account (for existing users).

If you don’t have an account, you can either create one or continue without an account.  I logged in with my existing Starbucks account and easily found my Starbucks card balance (which I had previously registered on Starbucks.com).  I especially love that the balance of my card is very clearly displayed right on the screen of my Droid.

So, if you love Starbucks for a caffeine fix, grab the Starbucks app and avoid iPhone envy – cause Andy can do that too!  Do you have other apps you’ve found that help you avoid iPhone envy?
