Although this phone has been out for a few months, coming from the lower end of Android and finally getting an opportunity to get a high-end device was a joy for me. I went from the Motorola Citrus to the all powerful Droid X2. I have had it for a week now and I’m really happy with my purchase. I wasn’t sure how I would like the bulkiness of the phone, but it’s just the right fit. There’s just enough space to really enjoy all the apps on the screen, without having to leave them in the menu like I did with the Citrus due to lack of screen estate. I love what Motorola has done with the homescreen on the X2, especially with the bottom row.
The battery life is simply awesome. It lasts all day for me during the work week. The speed of the X2 is mind-blowing to me. I’m so used to having to wait a few minutes for pages to load that it’s a nice surprise when I click an app and it loads instantly. The reception and signal strength is a big plus. I lost reception constantly with the Citrus, but I have excellent service with the Droid X2, even at work. The 8MP camera is also a pro to the device. I’d read that some weren’t too happy about the dark pictures, but after finding the scenes choice in the menu, darkness is irrelevant, and the picture will come out bright enough to see.
Not surprisingly, there is a ton of bloatware preinstalled, such as Amazon’s kindle and MP3 stores, Blockbuster, FM Radio, along with a few other useless apps. Fortunately, they don’t seem to be slowing down the phone.
The Netflix app is another big advantage for me. I have seen a few instances that it loads slowly, but I suspect that’s due to heavy Netflix traffic. The quality is a bit broken at times with the pixels, but in the end, I’m satisfied.
It’s nice to finally have a phone that will play Angry Birds with no problems and this one most definitely does. I have all three downloaded now, and enjoy hours of play without any lag.
The Rep at Verizon Wireless hooked me up with the Droid X essentials pack, which comes with a window mount, dock, car and wall charger, and HDMI cable. The reps were very nice and understanding of my past issues, and definitely took their time with me. Considering that the closest corporation store is 30 miles away, it was nice for them to take time to understand my needs and wants. I know and feel just like the majority of Americans feel about calling customer service when you know more than the person helping you.
I would recommend to anyone that is looking for a new phone on Verizon to go check this one out. I feel this is a solid device that can meet many, if not all of your needs. Don’t forget to leave any comments or questions below!
