I was very excited to review this app, as I am a mom constantly in search of safe, kid-friendly ways to keep my children entertained while on the go. My 11-year old son has his own Android phone and uses it sometimes to watch You Tube videos of his favorite cartoons or action heroes. But as we all know, sometimes questionable stuff pops up on YouTube, with inappropriate language or comments. For this reason I am hesitant to let my 7-year old daughter search for videos on You Tube.
I have to say most of the review of Children’s TV is based solely on the opinion of my daughter, for whom I downloaded the app. I let her have full reign of it for a few days, and the reviews came back very favorable.
The vast selection of videos are great for the app being free, and the variety of videos was enough to keep my daughter entertained for quite sometime. I did notice that she opted for videos a little bit above her age range. The 6+ videos were not as interesting to her as videos in the 8+ age range, but this all depends on the child. Videos range from 2-14 minutes in length, which was great for those times we were riding in the car, waiting in the doctor’s office, or going on a day trip. She especially loved the language option feature. It was great to see her enjoying a Spanish-speaking video, which helps in my efforts to teach her my native language.
The fee-based version of Children’s TV offers a wider selection of videos, as well as regular video updates. This may be a good buy for $5.99. Overall, it’s a great app. I would love to hear what others think of it. I encourage you to download Children’s TV by using the box below, and leave us a comment with your thoughts on the app!
