Have you ever been in a busy city trying to hail a cab, and soon realize you forgot to go by the ATM for some cash? I know I have!
I regularly travel to cities such as D.C. and Chicago, and I’ve stopped counting the times I’ve gotten in a cab that didn’t take credit cards or have asked the driver to stop at an ATM (while the meter is running of course) so I can pay them in cash. Then I found Taxi Magic.
This app has some great features, such as the ability to keep track of all your transportation expenses online to avoid the task of asking for a paper receipt. You can also synchronize airport rides with your flight times, compare transportation options and prices, and track your cab electronically. It’s a great way to find reliable transportation in an unfamiliar city, and for the most part seems to work well in the larger cities.
The app still seems to have a few glitches, such as GPS lag when searching for your location. The request to read your personal contact information could be done away with as well. The database is also in need of an update. When looking for cab companies, you will notice some say Book next to them, and others have just the phone icon. The ones that say Book are cab companies that have partnered with Taxi Magic and have the appropriate software installed to enable online booking. In the end, it all boils down to what particular city you are in and their cab companies’ reliability.
Once you download the Taxi Magic app on your Android, you can then complete your registration profile online. There’s a feature to store your credit card information as well as save your favorite locations to make regular pick-ups easier.
